Five years ago I took the challenge of a principalship in a small school thirty minutes away. When I arrived I soon realized that technology was limited in the school. This was hardware and ICT literate staff and the professional development began to integrate technology and purchase the hardware needed to train and implement. Below are some of the strategies used to incorporate ICT in a school.
Elementary its Email
Step one was to get staff using the computers and what a great way to begin but with email. First I had to find out who had school email accounts, who was using and get email accounts for those who did not have. The next step was to get staff using the email. Along came staff meetings. Staff meetings became a time to "test`` whose email was working and whose was not. Eventually agendas for staff meetings and reminders came in the form of email and it was a great way to see who had been using their email since the last staff meeting.
